VMware USB Arbitration Service is not running and I can not get it running after following all answers I have found - works on V12 if i downgrade and must have worked before win upgrade.Things that I have seen that are different to V12 or notebook V14 is : Usb sticks, Nas device, Local Hd's and backups on external drives all give same error but can be run from my notebook with same windows version and also latest VMware-player-14.1.1. Vm's are not corrupt, I have many vm's and backups on many different locations.

now v 1709 on my desktop and the vm's i run contain a windows 7 although I also have a windows 10. This cant be the long term solution I need to get 14 working. Something I tried that eventually worked was installing any v12 VMware-player-12.5.9. I need to eventually upgrade win so I can't roll back. I was on VMware-player-14.0.0 before my windows upgrade last week for some time without issues. Failed to connect pipe to virtual machine: The system cannot find the file specified. Make sure you have rights to run the program, access all directories the program uses, and access all directories for temporary files.

I will update this topic if/as I find new data points or a solution.Error: Error while powering on: VMware Player cannot connect to the virtual machine. I tried making a copy of the VMs and upgrading the VMware Tools and HW version in Workstation (then powering down and removing from inventory) but they *still * will not open in Player.Īs a workaround I am running the VMs in VMware Workstation but a lack of forward compatibility in VMware Player is a concern. I got the normal errors but installed lzma and liblz1 due to the traced errors but nothing works.

So I turned to strace -eopen vmplayer to try and figure out what I am missing. I get no obvious error unless I run from the command line, and when I do run from the command line I get a rather ambiguous "Fail to open executable: No such file or directory" error message. This seems to be irrespective of the client OS as I have a Windows 7 and Ubuntu VM that now will not open in VMPlayer.

Virtual machines open fine in Workstation, but those that I was previously running without issue in VMware Player (VM HW version 12.x) now will not open in VMware Player 14. I am running on a fully updated host running Ubuntu 16.04.03 LTS on a beefy Dell Precision 7710.
#Vmware workstation player 12 not opening pro
I recently upgraded to VMware Workstation Pro 14 from the latest version of 12.5.
